Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Katchingo ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects personal data when you and your children use the Katchingo app and website at katchingo.app (the "Service"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable national laws in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.
1. Who is responsible for your data (Data Controller)
Katchingo is the data controller for personal data processed through the Service. For any privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@katchingo.app.
2. Children's data and parental consent
Katchingo is designed for families. A parent or legal guardian creates the account and is responsible for the children added to it. By adding a child profile, the parent provides and confirms consent (GDPR Article 8) for us to process that child's data for the purpose of running the chores-and-coins features.
Children do not create their own accounts, do not provide an email address or password, and join only via a QR code generated by their parent. Children should only use the Service under the supervision and with the permission of their parent or guardian.
3. What data we collect
- Parent account data: email address and authentication details used to sign in.
- Child profile data: first name or nickname, chosen animal avatar, chores/tasks, coin balance and transaction history, and savings goals.
- Family data: family structure, parent invitations, and settings.
- Proof uploads: optional photos a child or parent uploads to confirm a completed chore.
- Technical data: limited logs needed for security and to keep the Service running.
We do not process real money through children's accounts, and coin balances are virtual.
4. Why we use your data and our legal basis
- To provide the Service and its core features — performance of a contract.
- To process children's data — consent given by the parent/guardian.
- To keep accounts secure and prevent abuse — legitimate interests.
- To comply with legal obligations where applicable — legal obligation.
5. How long we keep data
We keep personal data only as long as needed to provide the Service. When you delete a child profile or your family account, the associated personal data is deleted from our active systems, except where we must retain limited records to comply with the law.
6. Who we share data with
We do not sell your data and we do not show ads. We share data only with trusted service providers (processors) that host and run the Service on our behalf, under data-processing agreements. These providers may store data within the EU or in countries that offer an adequate level of protection or appropriate safeguards.
7. Your rights under the GDPR
You have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you and your children;
- request correction of inaccurate data;
- request deletion of data ("right to be forgotten");
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing);
- lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@katchingo.app. You can also delete your family data directly from the parent settings within the app.
8. Cookies and tracking
We use only the cookies and local storage strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to run the Service. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. If we ever introduce optional analytics, we will ask for your consent first.
9. Data security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is completely secure, but we work to keep your family's data safe.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
